The goal of the NFL Alumni Academy is to get free agents ready in season to play in the NFL so that when any of the 32 teams need a player it can be "one-stop shopping" for them to bolster their roster. Don't let the name confuse you. It is so called because the system was planned out by the NFL Alumni Association, led by former Minnesota Vikings running backs coach Dean Dalton.
Several NFL Alumni are serving as coaches and mentors at the new NFL Alumni Academy inside the Pro Football Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio. The Academy is an invitation-only training program designed to prepare top free agent prospects for promotion to NFL team rosters or practice squads.
